About Sam Kane

Endorsements from Law Enforcement Leaders

Sam Kane is an attorney and advocate who has spent over two decades standing up for families, individuals, and small businesses when systems failed to deliver justice.

Although he was not born in New Mexico, Sam made it his home as quickly as he could. It has been the most rewarding decision of his life.

Sam grew up in a single-parent household that struggled to make ends meet. His family did not have much, but they had faith, determination, and each other. Through hard work, Sam earned his high school equivalency and later attended Southeastern Assemblies of God College.

After college, Sam moved to Miami, where he worked as a math teacher in an inner-city school. At the same time, he attended law school at night through the evening program at the University of Miami School of Law. That experience helped shape his belief that opportunity and justice should not depend on where someone starts in life.

After graduating from law school, Sam received a clerkship under Judge Robert C. Brack at the United States District Court for New Mexico in Las Cruces. It did not take long for him to fall in love with the state and its people. Sam chose to build his life and raise his family here because, in his words, “New Mexico is where I found that same faith, determination, and community that built and raised me.”

Outside the office, Sam enjoys cycling and flying as a licensed pilot. Sam is also a devoted husband and father. He and his wife, Jessica, work together both professionally and at home to help make the future better for New Mexico families as they raise their own.

Sam believes the fundamental purpose of the law is to provide order, security and stability for the people. That belief is why he is running for Attorney General. Sam wants to ensure our laws fulfill that purpose. He wants to continue his work as the people’s advocate, ensuring the justice system works for the people of this state and delivers the fairness and accountability New Mexicans deserve.
