Meet Sam Kane
Sam Kane is an attorney with decades of experience fighting for the rights of New Mexicans. While he was not born here, Sam fell in love with New Mexico early in life and called it home. Like many of us, Sam knows that the New Mexico government and the justice system can do better to provide order, security and economic and social stability.
His experience directly protecting the rights of the people brings a real-world perspective to the office of Attorney General that this State needs now more than ever.
Sam is an avid cyclist, a proficient pilot, and a devoted father and husband. His wife Jessica is not only his partner in business, but his partner in life.

Justice For All
The purpose of laws and legal systems is to provide order, security and economic and social stability for the people. It is the Attorney General’s duty to ensure our laws and legal systems do just that—for all of us.
Protecting Privacy
Mass surveillance tools like Flock license-plate readers are spreading across New Mexico with little oversight, tracking the movements of law-abiding citizens without a warrant or their consent. Sam believes this kind of government overreach is unconstitutional, and as Attorney General he will fight to rein in mass surveillance and protect every New Mexican's right to privacy.
Addressing the Crime Crisis
New Mexico is facing a crime crisis driven by the influx of methamphetamine and fentanyl into our communities. Sam will work tirelessly to combat the crimes causing the most harm to families — standing shoulder-to-shoulder with the officers on the front lines, and ensuring they're directly supported, trained, and equipped to tackle crime decisively.
Investing in the Next Generation
State and local departments and agencies will work together to encourage and create programs that give at-risk youth a better path forward.
An Advocate for the Land and Future
Preserving Our Natural Beauty
Our land is our heritage and our future. Environmental laws should be fairly, reasonably, and consistently enforced to preserve the natural beauty of our State.
Responsible Growth Means No Data Centers
New Mexico's land, water, and power grid are not for sale to out-of-state data center developers. Sam opposes the unchecked expansion of energy-hungry data centers that strain our resources and drive up costs for everyday New Mexicans — and will ensure any development is scrutinized under existing environmental regulations before our natural resources, and our wallets, pay the price.
Holding Utility Companies Accountable
For too long, utility companies have hiked rates on New Mexicans with little accountability and even less oversight. As Attorney General, Sam will launch investigations into rate-hike practices that harm consumers, and make certain utility companies answer for decisions that put profits ahead of New Mexico families.
